Terms of Service

Nécessaire is a free, open-source browser extension that runs entirely in your own browser. It is not a hosted service: there are no servers, no accounts and no subscription. By installing or using it, you agree to these terms.

1. What this is

Nécessaire is software that runs on your device. Nothing you save is transmitted to the developer. If you connect Google Drive, the extension communicates directly between your browser and your own Google account.

2. Your data is yours

Everything you capture belongs to you and is stored on your device and, if you connect it, in your own Google Drive. The developer has no access to it and cannot retrieve, restore or delete it on your behalf. See the Privacy Policy for details.

You are responsible for keeping your own backups. Because Google Drive’s application data folder is hidden, deleting the extension’s data through Google Drive settings is permanent and cannot be undone.

3. No warranty

The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

The developer does not guarantee that the extension will be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will preserve your saved content. Sync depends on third-party services and on your own network and account.

4. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any claim, damages or other liability — including loss of data, loss of profits, or any indirect or consequential loss — arising from or in connection with the software or its use.

5. Third-party services

Connecting Google Drive is optional. If you do, your use of Google Drive is governed by Google’s own terms and privacy policy, which are separate from these terms. The developer is not responsible for changes to, or the availability of, Google’s services.

6. Acceptable use

Use the extension lawfully. Do not use it to copy or store content you do not have the right to save, and respect the copyright and terms of the websites you capture from.

7. Changes

These terms may be updated. Changes are published here with a new date. Continuing to use the extension after a change means you accept the updated terms.
